  • Registration for the Joint Summit: Ethical Issues and End-of-Life Care in Long Term Care and Aging Services

Registration is closed

The Healthcare Ethics Consortium (HEC) at the Emory Center for Ethics and the Georgia POLST (Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment) Collaborative invite you to join a half-day Summit to discuss ethical issues in long term care and aging services, including end-of-life care practices.

The Summit will bring select leaders together to identify and discuss prominent ethical issues involved in working with and caring for individuals as they age, and to determine an agenda for future action regarding these issues.  We anticipate discussion on issues such as: continuity of care across the healthcare/aging service continuum; quality of care; access to care; long term care staff moral distress; senior/person-centered care and balancing autonomy with “best interests” and regulatory issues; advance care planning and end of life care.  The Summit is envisioned as a highly-engaged, facilitated conversation in which participants will help identify additional topics for discussion and action.

Invited Summit participants include leaders in state government agencies, Georgia medical and nursing schools, professional associations, other key voices along the continuum of care, and state legislators.
